SADD Gets Sweet

SADD’s Sweetheart Dance, formerly known as Snowball, was on February 13th, Valentines Day Eve. The name was recently changed because SADD members decided it was time for a change and something new. The ideas for changing the name and theme came about last year in order to introduce fresh ideas to the 2009-2010 school year.

SADD members have been preparing for the dance for about a month. With all the volunteers working on putting decorations up, the total preparation time the day of the dance takes about an hour to an hour and a half. The DJ for the dance was picked out by Ms. Fox as he will be her wedding DJ this summer. The decorations consisted of hearts, ribbons, pink tables, and a big vase of sweetheart candies, among other things.

“We don’t want it to be cheesy. No cheese ball Valentine’s decorations,” said Ms. Fox about how the dance was going to be decorated.

SADD integrated some activities into the dance such as a cake walk and some fun activities allowing people to win prizes. SADD holds the dance annually, so if you missed it this year you can look forward to a SADD sponsored dance next winter.
