STUCO Raises Donations for Haiti Earthquake.
The BPHS Student Council held a meeting on Jan. 14 to brainstorm ideas to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake that occured on Jan. 12. Since then, the club has been encouraging the school and community to help in different ways.
During the basketball game against Medicine Lodge on Jan. 15 the student coucil invited spectators to toss down their change and bills into a wide spread blanket held by the cheerleaders. As the cheerleaders made their way across the stands, many students, parents, and fans from both Belle Plaine and Medicine Lodge helped the cause by throwing their money in the blanket.
For the next few days, there will also be jars for donations set up in the high school office. Each class and the faculty has their own jar to donate to. The proceeds will be collected by the BPHS student council and sent to the Red Cross.
